Adventurous Trip To Bir Billing: Camping & Paragliding

North Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is one of the most stunning, diversified, and welcoming to tourists. Stunning scenery, imposing mountains, and expansive views are just a few of the attractions of this unspoiled state.

The hub of it all is Bir Billing. Because Billing is where the paragliders take off while Bir is where they land, the village that was once known as Bir is now frequently referred to as “Bir Billing.”

This charming little town also has a rich past. It is stated that after being dominated by Indian kings and emperors, the Tibetan Buddhist settlers bought this land and eventually relocated to this location.

Soon after establishing a monastery in this location, efforts to train monks to support Tibetans and propagate Buddhism in the area were launched. With more than 120 monks calmly studying, worshipping, and living their faith there today, the monastery is still thriving.

After establishing a monastery nearby, the training of monks to support the Tibetan people and advance the Buddhist faith in the area was soon started. With more than 120 monks studying, praying, and peacefully living their faith, the monastery is still thriving today. Both visitors and residents are welcome at this Pema Ewam Chogar Gyurme Ling Monastery.

Best time for visiting:

Rainfall during the monsoon season may range from light to heavy, resulting in landslides and floods. In contrast, the winter months have extremely low temperatures. In Bir Billing, neither of these weather situations is particularly favorable for outdoor pursuits like hiking and camping. Therefore, you should visit the villages between April and June, in the summer, to avoid the heat and get the full tourist experience.

Accessibility of Bir Billing:

Bir Billing is easily accessible because there are so many tourist-friendly recreational activities. From Dharamshala, buses can be taken to Bir Road by travelers and tourists. Additionally, some buses travel from Delhi ISBT to Bir Colony (Inter-State Bus Terminal).

If you want to use the railway, you must first go from Delhi to Pathankot before continuing to Ajhu. Ajhu is located about 3 kilometers from Bir Billing. The most attractive portion of the trip is the remaining leg from Pathankot to Ahju, which includes gorgeous scenery and excellent weather as it travels to Bir Billing.

Paragliding in Bir billing:

Coming to Bir Billing, a village famous for paragliding, and not participating in the sport would be sacrilegious. There are numerous businesses and shops selling paragliding package deals in the region known as the “paragliding capital” of India. Choose one depending on your preferences and price range.

In Himachal Pradesh, Bir Billing, A Paragliding Paradise, is located around 70 miles from the well-known tourist resort Dharamshala. Additionally, it is not far from several other breathtaking hill towns, like Barot, Palampur, and McLeodganj.

Due to its relative lack of popularity, this area is less commercialized than other nearby popular tourist destinations. You can also take a tour of the lovely monasteries while you’re here, take in the enchanting sunsets, or hike to some stunning eccentric locales; the option is yours. It has been ranked as the second best paragliding location in the world and one of the best in Asia. The “First Paragliding World Cup of India” was held at Bir Billing from October 24 to October 31 of 2015. 500 amateur pilots and 150 top-ranked paragliding professionals from around the world competed in this world cup.

Tandem flying and solo flying are the two main events in paragliding. Tandem flying is when a professional pilot and a guest pilot—who may or may not be a trained pilot—fly together. In this form of flight, the expert pilot controls the aircraft while the passenger simply enjoys the flight and the scenery.

Tandem flights often last 10 to 25 minutes, depending on the weather and the direction of the wind. While solo flying is strictly limited to pros, you can easily enjoy up to 20–25 minutes in the air if the sky is clear and the air current is good.

Camping in Bir Billing:

Following their stay, all of the tourists and backpackers retell with great excitement their thrilling and unique adventures on their camping trip to Bir Billing. It is as easy as pitching your tent outside in the mountains, where you can enjoy the companionship of the stars and flowing lakes and rivulets. The fact that all camping in Bir Billing is environmentally friendly and does not harm the area’s fauna and vegetation is a bonus.

It is best to avoid camping here in July, August, and September because of the area’s frequent rains during those times.
